The partnership consisting of Atkins, Balfour Beatty, Costain, Keltbray and Kier will be committed to upgrading a section of the A66 Northern Trans Pennine Highway in the United Kingdom. The National Highway Administration has awarded the partners a package project of 1.3 billion pounds.

The project still needs to be approved by the Secretary of State in 2023. The project involves doubling the remaining 29 km of route. The key intersection between Penrith's M6 intersection 40 and Scotch Corner's A1 will also be improved according to the framework of the National Highway Delivery Integration Partnership.
Once the improvement is completed, the upgraded A66 Northern Trans Pennine route will reduce delay and queuing, and improve the performance of key intersections such as A66/A6 and M6 Junction 40. In addition, improvements will improve connectivity for drivers in the region.Editor/Xing Wentao
