The pumped storage project will further promote the achievement of the dual carbon target. A signing ceremony for the Yeshan Pumped storage power station project in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, was held at the Liuhe District government in Nanjing on Oct 26, 2022. Hydropower Bureau No. 3 signed the Framework Agreement on Investment and Development of Nanjing Yeshan Pumping and Storage Power Station Project with Nanjing Liuhe District Government.

The project is located in Yeshan Iron Mine area, Yeshan Town, Liuhe District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, 22 kilometers from the straight line of Liuhe City. The initial installed capacity of the power station is 800,000 kW, the annual generating capacity of the project is initially planned to be 1.34 billion KWH, and the annual pumped electricity is initially planned to be 1.787 billion KWH. The water head is about 314 meters, and the upper and lower reservoirs have an adjusted storage capacity of 5.84 million cubic meters.

Project fully practice "green water castle peak is the jinshan yinshan" ecological development idea, eliminate mine geological hazard, restore ecological environment, improve the safe operation of regional power grid stability at the same time, is advantageous to the energy structure of smelting mountain area clean, low carbon development, power liuhe district, nanjing city economic development, industrial upgrading, to create green high quality development of a new engine.
