Bahrain is the smallest oil producing country in the Arabian Gulf. While the government is trying to increase its natural gas production, it has discovered two new natural gas projects. The new discovery was found in the unconventional Al Juba and Al Jawf reservoirs, and cited the announcement of Nogaholding, the energy investment and development department of Bahrain.
It does not provide details of the total estimated reserves of the two new discoveries. Chairman Nogaholding Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad said that the latest findings and positive results provided the necessary information to further assess the benefits of oil wells from all the potential of promising natural gas resources. The information we have paved the way for the future development and production of natural gas resources in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia also announced new gas discoveries in 2022. In February, ADNOC announced that it had found up to 2 trillion standard cubic feet of important natural gas resources near the coast of Abu Dhabi. Saudi Arabia has also discovered a number of new gas fields in different parts of the country.
Shell said in a report in February that the global LNG trade volume will increase by 6% to 380 million tons in 2021. China, the world's second largest economy, will lead the growth of LNG demand in 2021.
In 2018, Bahrain said that it had found up to 20 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and 80 billion barrels of shale oil at sea, and hoped to produce them within five years with the potential help of international energy companies. In recent years, the demand for natural gas has surged, as the largest energy consumer focuses on reducing emissions to limit global warming and protect the environment.Editor/Xing Wentao
