On November 12, 2022, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Yuming attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the Dhaka-Assuria Elevated Highway project undertaken by a Chinese company in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

According to reports, the Dhaka-Assuria Elevated Highway project includes 24 km of four-lane elevated highway and 14.3 km of existing road renovation, as well as ramp, toll booth, side road bridge and other works.

Hasina said at the groundbreaking ceremony that China is a good friend of Bangladesh and China has helped the country build many major projects. Li said the project, once completed, will promote Bangladesh's important role in regional connectivity and is another example of how the Belt and Road Initiative and Bangladesh's Vision 2041 will align and benefit the two peoples.
