Recently, the feasibility study report of Tongde pumped storage power Station in Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province was held in Chengdu. The report successfully passed the review. The feasibility study of the project only took 10 months, and the design speed set a new record, reflecting the speed of the preliminary work of the pumped storage project in Qinghai Province.

It is understood that Tongde pumped storage power station is a key project in the 14th Five-Year Plan of the national pumped storage Medium - and long-term development Plan, and has been included in the 14th Five-Year Plan approved by the state. The power station was located in Hebei Township, Tongde County, Hainan Prefecture, with an installed capacity of 2.4 million kW during the feasibility study stage and an estimated total static investment of 13.8 billion yuan. It was classified as a large-scale (1) type Ⅰ hydropower project, mainly consisting of upper reservoir, lower reservoir, underground water transmission and power generation system, etc. The power generation system adopted a one-hole two-machine arrangement scheme, with a total of 8 hydropower generating units with installed capacity of 300,000 kW.

It is understood that the project will start construction in 2023. After the construction of the project, it will lay a foundation for our province to build a highland of clean energy industry, help the country build a new energy system and promote the energy revolution. The station is located very close to the new energy base in Hainan Prefecture and the Qing-Yu DC export UHV Channel. The station can play the functions of capacity support, green energy storage and flexible adjustment, and also be deployed to perform such tasks as power system energy storage, peak adjustment, valley filling, frequency modulation, phase modulation and emergency backup.

It is reported that since the preliminary work of Tongde pumped storage project started at the end of December 2021, the provincial Energy Bureau has made every effort to coordinate with the General Institute of Hydropower and Water Conservancy Planning and Design, governments at all levels and relevant departments, and adopted advanced practices such as one-station closed site visits by external experts, simultaneous offline and online meetings for deliberation, centralized and parallel review of multiple projects, etc. Under the premise of epidemic prevention and control, the preliminary work of the project was accelerated, and the feasibility study of the project was completed in 10 months, with the design speed setting a new record.
