Project overview

Guangdong Zhaoqing Langjiang Pumped Storage Power Station, located in Guangning County, Zhaoqing City, is the first pumped storage power station in Zhaoqing City, which is a key implementation project of the national medium and long-term plan for pumped storage (2021-2035) and a key construction project of the "14th Five Year Plan". The total investment of the project is about 8.67 billion yuan, mainly consisting of upper reservoir, lower reservoir, water conveyance system and power house system. The power station is equipped with four reversible pump turbine generator units with a single unit capacity of 300000 kilowatts. The total installed capacity is 1.2 million kilowatts, the rated head is 436 meters, and the annual design power generation is 1.6 billion kilowatt hours. The main structures of the upper reservoir complex include asphalt concrete core rockfill dam, reservoir expansion excavation and protection, reservoir bank slope protection works, ecological flow pipe, reservoir ring road, ecological flow pipe maintenance road, water inlet/outlet, cofferdam, diversion tunnel, diversion connecting open channel, grounding works, etc.

The construction of Guangdong Zhaoqing Langjiang Pumped Storage Power Station will play a significant role in improving the local infrastructure construction, strengthening the ecological environment protection, and accelerating the pace of economic development. It is estimated that by 2030, the system can save about 359700 tons of thermal power coal consumption annually, which is equivalent to reducing 896400 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, 27000 tons of sulfur dioxide emissions, and 13500 tons of nitrogen oxides annually. By relying on pumped storage projects to develop tourism, health care and other service industries, we will promote local employment, help rural revitalization, and promote the economic and social development of Guangning Old Revolutionary Base Area. At the same time, after the completion of the project, it will further optimize the power supply structure in western Guangdong, better realize the clean and low-carbon transformation of energy, enhance the safe and stable operation of the power grid system, effectively promote the construction of energy security and energy storage system in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, and help to build a world-class bay area.
