The construction of pumped storage power stations will further promote the green and sustainable development of the energy industry. On November 14, 2022, the Guanghanping Pumped Storage Project of Youcounty, Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province, received approval from the Provincial Development and Reform Commission.

It is understood that this project is the 14th Fifth Plan project of the National Energy Administration and the largest single investment project in the history of Youxian. The project, located under the jurisdiction of Huangfengqiao Towns and Huangtuling towns of Youxian County, has a total installed capacity of 1.8 million kilowatts, including the construction of an upper reservoir, a water transmission system, a power generation building and a lower reservoir, and the installation of six units with a capacity of 300,000 kilowatts. Construction will begin soon.

"To develop clean energy and ensure energy security, the state will promote the construction of pumped storage power stations at a high level in 2022."
