PV Hardware, a solar tracker manufacturer, has opened an 8GW plant in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to produce trackers and structures for solar projects in the Middle East and beyond.
The Spanish company PVH built the plant through its local branch, PVH Middle East. PVH said that 60% of its components are from local sources. The company plans to use the factory to supply projects in the Middle East and around the world, including projects in Europe, Australia and Asia.
Ivan Higueras, chairman of PVH, said that with this new factory in Saudi Arabia, the capacity of PVH Middle East would double and it could export trackers internationally.
Alvaro Casado, global business director of PVH, said that this new factory will enable us to promote our activities in the Middle East region and consolidate our position as the leading supplier of solar trackers and structures in this region.
The goal of PVH is to achieve a global capacity of 21GW through the opening of this plant and another recently announced planned plant in Texas. The company intends to provide 7GW of power to the Middle East by 2030. CEO Emilio Garcia said that the new factory may exceed this capacity. PVH said that it has provided 15GW of capacity to factories and projects around the world.
Saudi Arabia's National Renewable Energy Plan sets a target of 58.7GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, of which ACWA Power will provide 70%. In early 2022, Nextracker reached a 450MW project supply agreement in Saudi Arabia. The Saudi government has agreed to a series of power purchase agreements, which form part of Saudi Arabia's goal of developing 15GW renewable energy projects in the next two years.Editor/Xing Wentao
