On November 21, 2022, the official website of Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission released the "Publicity of Feasibility Study Report of Shunde Waterway Expansion and Upgrading Project before Approval". According to the publicity information, the total investment of Shunde Waterway Expansion and Upgrading Project is 5 billion yuan, and the construction period is 5 years. The project is located in the middle of the waterway network of the Pearl River Delta, including waterway works and bridge works. Among them, bridge works include demolition and reconstruction of 3 bridges and bridge anti-collision and reinforcement works of 12 bridges.

Shunde Waterway Channel Expansion and Upgrading Project is located in the middle of the Pearl River Delta channel network, including channel works and bridge works. The total length of the waterway project from Huoshaotou to Zidongkou is 50 kilometers, which is constructed according to the requirements of Class II inland waterway and 2000 ton navigation ships, with the waterway dimension of 4.6 × eighty × 550 meters. The main construction contents include dredging project, reef cleaning project, bank protection project, navigation aids project, water service area, etc.

Bridge works include demolition and reconstruction of 3 bridges and anti-collision and reinforcement of 12 bridges. The bridges to be demolished and rebuilt are: the demolition and reconstruction project of Sanhongqi Bridge, which uses the first-class highway and urban road function, the design speed of the main line is 80 km/h, the number of lanes is two-way 8 lanes+sidewalks and non motor vehicle lanes, the main bridge uses the steel mixed composite beam continuous rigid structure, the approach bridge uses the steel mixed composite beam+fabricated small box girder structure, and the total length of the reconstructed route is 1592 meters.

The demolition, consolidation and reconstruction of Longjiang Bridge and Longjiang Second Bridge adopt the Class I highway and urban road function standard. The design speed of the main line is 80 km/h, and the number of lanes is two-way 8 lanes+sidewalks and non motor vehicle lanes. The main bridge adopts the steel concrete composite girder single tower cable-stayed bridge, and the approach bridge adopts the steel concrete composite girder+fabricated small box girder structure. The total length of the reconstruction route is 1750 meters. The demolition and reconstruction project of Xiqiao Bridge adopts Class I highway and urban road function standard. The design speed of the main line is 60km/h, and the number of lanes is two-way four lane+sidewalk and non motorized vehicle lane. The main bridge adopts steel box girder single tower cable-stayed bridge, and the approach bridge adopts steel concrete composite beam+fabricated small box girder structure. The total length of the reconstruction route is 870m.

The 12 bridges in the bridge anti-collision and reinforcement project are respectively Xiqiao Bridge, Huanglong Bridge, Juhuawan Bridge, Lelong Bridge, Beijiang Bridge, Longxiang Bridge, Longwan Bridge, Danzao Bridge of Guangming Expressway, Sanshan Bridge, Xihai Bridge, and Xihai Bridge of Bigui Road.
