On November 27, 2022, the publicity of the bid winning candidates for the station front works of the early commencement section of the controlled project of the Xi'an Tongchuan Section of the new Xi'an Yan'an Railway and the bid winning candidates for the supervision of the Xi'an Tongchuan Section of the new Xi'an Yan'an Railway were released. The construction of the Xi'an Tongchuan Section of the West Extended High speed Railway will officially start in mid December, with a construction period of three years.

Project overview

The new Xi'an Yan'an High speed Railway starts from Xi'an North Railway Station and Xi'an East Railway Station, passes through Gaoling District and Yanliang District of Xi'an City, Fuping County of Weinan City, Yaozhou District, Wangyi District, Yintai District and Yijun County of Tongchuan City, Huangling County, Luochuan County, Fuxian County, Ganquan County and Baota District of Yan'an City, and reaches the existing Baotou Xichang Railway Yan'an Station. The total length of the main line of the project is 287.10 km, and the design speed is 350 km/h. The construction period is 4.5 years.

The main line from Xi'an East Station to Tongchuan Station of West Extension High speed Railway is 91.162 km long. The line successively passes through Xi'an, Weinan and Tongchuan. The design speed is 350 km/h. The investment approved in the preliminary design is 20.978 billion yuan. The construction period is 3 years.

The planned construction period is 1095 calendar days, the planned commencement date is December 16, 2022, and the planned completion date is December 15, 2025.
