The Yunnan Provincial Development and Reform Commission recently approved a feasibility study report on the Dali to Panzhihua Expressway (Yunnan Province), marking a substantial progress in the preliminary work of the project.

According to reports, the main line of the project starts near Shuidul Ridge, Waxi Village, Daying Town, Binchuan County. The Shewaxi hub connects to the already built Dali to Yongsheng Expressway; Liwo Long tunnel at the junction of Nagang Bay, Yongren County (Yunnan Province) and Liwo, Panzhihua City (Sichuan Province), connecting with Dali to Panzhihua Expressway in Sichuan Province).

The main line is constructed according to the standard of two-way four-lane expressway, with a design speed of 80 km/h. The total length of the main line of the project is 173.18 km, of which the route within Chuxiong Prefecture is about 114.301 km and the route within Dali Prefecture is about 58.879 km. The total investment of approved projects is 38.411 billion yuan, of which the Chuxiong section is 25.619 billion yuan and the Dali section is 12.792 billion yuan.

The section of Dali to Panzhihua Expressway in Yunnan Province is a key construction project included in the county expressway interconnection project of Yunnan Province and the 14th Five-Year comprehensive transportation development plan of Yunnan Province. It is also an important inter-provincial highway passage between Yunnan and Sichuan. The construction of the Dali to Panzhihua Expressway in Yunnan Province is of great significance for improving the layout of the expressway network in Yunnan Province, driving the economic and social development of the regions along the route, consolidating the achievements of poverty alleviation, and accelerating the integration of the region into the construction of the Belt and Road and the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
