On November 29, 2022, the official website of Nanchang Natural Resources and Planning Bureau released the second round of urban rail transit network planning of Nanchang after approval. The second round of urban rail transit network planning of Nanchang has been approved by Nanchang Municipal People's Government.

This round of planning includes 12 urban rail transit lines, including 3 rail express lines and 9 ordinary rail lines, with a total mileage of about 539 km. It forms a network structure of "ring+radiation" and a network hierarchy of "express lines+ordinary lines", so as to improve the public transport service level of Nanchang. In addition, the city wide railway is planned in the long term to strengthen the rail transit service of key cities and towns in the metropolitan area and the Greater Nanchang Metropolitan Area.

The scope of this planning is consistent with that of the overall planning of land and space of Nanchang City under preparation, focusing on the central urban area of Nanchang and the central urban area of Nanchang County in the metropolitan area.
