On Nov 30, 2022, Shaanxi Provincial Department of Transport held a press conference to announce the start of construction of Xi 'an East Railway Station, Xitong-copper section of Xiyan-Yanchang high-speed Railway and Shaanxi section of Kangyu-Chongqing high-speed Railway. According to the introduction, the total investment of the three projects is 54.58 billion yuan, Shaanxi's high-speed railway under construction will be more than 700 kilometers, the total investment scale of about 150 billion yuan.

By the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the operating length of Shaanxi's high-speed railway had reached 1,054.5 kilometers, and the high-speed railway projects of Zhengxi, Daxi, Yinxi, Xilan and Xicheng had been completed, realizing high-speed rail connectivity with five neighboring provinces. During the 14th Five-Year Plan Period, the provincial Committee and government of Shaanxi took high-speed railway as the main battlefield of the construction of Shaanxi's strong transportation province, and planned to promote the construction of high-speed railway from Xi 'an to Yan 'an, from Xi 'an to Chongqing via Ankang, from Xi 'an to Shiyan, from Yan 'an to Yulin to Ordos, and from Suide to Taiyuan. The newly built railway covered more than 1,000 kilometers, with a total investment of about 200 billion yuan.

The construction of these three projects will play a vital role in optimizing the regional road network structure, accelerating the construction of high-speed railway transportation channel radiating to China, promoting Shaanxi and even western regions to actively integrate into the national strategy of opening up, consolidating the achievements of poverty alleviation, and realizing the coordinated development of regional development and old revolutionary base areas.
