On the morning of December 5, 2022, Qingdao, Shandong Province, held a meeting to promote the construction of the Guanlu Reservoir. The construction of the major node project of the national water network, the largest rain and flood resources in the Jiaodong Peninsula, and the main dam enclosure project of the Guanlu Reservoir, a comprehensive regulation and storage reservoir for passenger water diversion, began in full swing.

The Guanlu Reservoir Project is located at the lower reaches of the Ink River in the northwest of Jiaozhou City, and is expanded on the basis of the abandoned Guanlu Reservoir. The planned total storage capacity of the project is 211 million cubic meters, covering an area of about 20287 mu, and the estimated total investment is about 9.15 billion yuan. According to the project planning task, the short-term goal is to regulate and store the water volume of the Yellow River East Water Diversion Project and the local rain and flood resources, as well as to use the passenger water transported by the main channel from the Yellow River to Qingdao, to provide water sources for urban domestic and industrial water in Qingdao; In the long term, the South to North Water Diversion and other passenger water will be adjusted and stored to meet the water demand of Qingdao and Gaomi City.

The planned construction period of Guanlu Reservoir is 3 years.
