On December 6, 2022, Fenyi Power Plant 2 of State Power Investment Corporation of Jiangxi Province × The 1000 MW unit expansion project was officially approved by Jiangxi Development and Reform Commission. The construction of the project will effectively fill the power gap in Jiangxi Province and western Jiangxi during the "Fourteenth Five Year Plan" period, which is of great significance to improve energy utilization efficiency, enhance enterprise competitiveness, and ensure high-quality development of enterprises.

The project is located in Shuanglin Town, Fenyi County, Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province. Using the reserved space at the east expansion end of the plant area of the first phase project of Fenyi Power Plant, it is planned to build two 1000 megawatt ultra supercritical secondary reheat coal-fired units. The main equipment such as the three main engines are selected with the latest technologies of domestic similar units such as large capacity, high parameters and high efficiency, with a static investment of 7.5 billion yuan and a dynamic investment of 7.8 billion yuan. The flue gas desulfurization facilities, flue gas denitration and dust removal devices shall be constructed simultaneously to minimize the emission of atmospheric pollutants, which will reach the ultra-low emission level. The project is planned to start in January 2023 and be put into operation for power generation in 2025.

With the further deepening of the national strategy of "rising in the central region", Jiangxi's economy has maintained rapid development and the demand for electricity has continued to grow. The expansion project has large unit capacity, low coal consumption and good peak shaving performance. It pays attention to the unity of social, economic and environmental benefits. The construction of the expansion project can meet the needs of Xinyu City's "Fourteenth Five Year Plan" power load growth, relieve the pressure on the power supply of the whole network, play an important role in the optimization and upgrading of the industrial structure, and provide reliable power guarantee for the sustainable social and economic development of Xinyu City, western Jiangxi Province and the whole Jiangxi Province.
