On December 12, 2022, Henan Public Resources Trading Center announced the successful candidates for the civil engineering and metal structure installation of the upper reservoir, lower reservoir, water conveyance and power generation system of Jiufengshan Pumped Storage Power Station in Huixian County, Henan Province. The project was awarded by Sinohydro Bureau 11 Co., Ltd. with a total investment of 13.16 billion yuan.
Overview of power station project
The project construction site is located in Huangshui Township, Huixian City, Xinxiang City.
Jiufengshan Pumped Storage Power Station in Huixian County, Henan Province is located in Huangshui Township, Huixian City, Xinxiang City, about 40km and 75km away from Xinxiang City and Zhengzhou City respectively. The power station is equipped with six vertical shaft single-stage mixed flow reversible pump turbines with a unit capacity of 350MW. The project is a large (I) type and first-class project. The main permanent buildings are designed as Grade 1 buildings, and the secondary permanent buildings are designed as Grade 3 buildings. The power station has an installed capacity of 2100MW and a rated head of 682m. The normal pool level of the upper reservoir is 1202m, the dead water level is 1172m, and the regulating capacity is 8.3 million m ³; The normal pool level of the lower reservoir is 507m, the dead water level is 472m, and the regulating reservoir capacity is 8.41 million m ³。 The external traffic conditions of the project are good. Provincial Highway S230 passes by near the dam site of the lower reservoir, and Township Road Y005 passes through the proposed reservoir basin near the upper reservoir, and connects with Baligou Scenic Area Road and Township Road Y018.

Scope of bidding
Excavation and slope support of upper and lower reservoir dams and basins, treatment of dangerous rocks, stripping and stockpiling of topsoil in the reservoir area and dam area, and plugging of exploratory holes and adits; Earth rock filling of dam and reservoir basin; Asphalt concrete facing of dam and reservoir basin; Excavation, support and concrete pouring of dam and reservoir basin interception and drainage system; Concrete pouring, protective railings and other facilities for dam crest superstructure; Excavation, support, concrete pouring and foundation treatment of upper reservoir ballast dam; Dam foundation excavation, dam earthwork filling, anti-seepage geomembrane paving of the lower reservoir ballast dam and the platform behind the dam; Earth rock excavation and support, drilling and grouting, and concrete pouring for water inlet/outlet of upper and lower reservoirs and gate shafts; Installation and commissioning of emergency/bulkhead gate leaves, gate embedded parts and hoisting equipment; Civil engineering and architectural decoration of hoist room, installation and commissioning of gate chamber hoist and electromechanical equipment; Design, construction, operation and management of construction plant facilities such as upper and lower reservoir roads, upper reservoir quarry exploitation, transfer quarry retaining and drainage works, upper reservoir concrete and asphalt concrete production systems of upper and lower reservoir sand and gravel processing systems, and provide sand and gravel supply for other contractors.

Rock tunnel excavation and support of underground powerhouse system and water conveyance system; Concrete lining of water conveyance system; Excavation and support of low-voltage cable tunnel, drainage gallery, outlet adit and outlet shaft, drainage facilities and concrete lining; Steel pipe manufacturing and installation of water conveyance system, bifurcated pipe manufacturing and installation, bifurcated pipe water pressure test, drilling and grouting, concrete backfilling, and concrete construction of drainage gallery floor; Excavation and support of construction adit and ventilation adit; Plugging of diversion and tailrace adits.
Earthwork excavation and support of outgoing line yard of switch station; Installation and commissioning of upper and lower reservoir gates, hoists and their control cabinets; Procurement, fabrication and installation of embedded pipes, embedded fasteners, and grounding devices in concrete of all civil works under the Contract. Procurement, fabrication and installation of sprinkler systems for upper and lower reservoirs, design, construction, operation management, maintenance and removal of temporary construction facilities required for the construction of the project under this contract.
The total installed capacity of the power station is 2.1 million kilowatts, and six 350000 kilowatt reversible pump turbine generator units are installed. The power station is mainly composed of upper reservoir, lower reservoir, water conveyance system, power house system, switch station and other buildings.
