On December 20, 2022, the bidding announcement for the construction unit price contracting of the airport section of the Pearl River Delta hub of the new Guangzhou Zhanjiang high-speed railway was released. The airport section of the Pearl River Delta hub of Guangzhou Zhanjiang high-speed railway will officially start construction in January 2023, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of November 2025.

Influenced by the construction plan of introducing Guangzhou hub and Pearl River Delta hub airport section, Guangzhou Zhanjiang high-speed railway adopts the sectional construction mode. The construction of the first construction section will be commenced on September 30, 2019. Foshan Station to the end of Xijiang Bridge and Xinxing South Station to Zhanjiang North Station will be officially commenced on June 30, 2020. At present, only the section from Guangzhou Station to Foshan Station, which is constructed on behalf of Guangzhou Railway Group, has not started construction bidding.
Project overview
The construction of the new Guangzhou Zhanjiang High Speed Railway has been approved by China National Railway Group Co., Ltd. and the People's Government of Guangdong Province with the reply on the feasibility study report of the new Guangzhou Zhanjiang High Speed Railway (TFGH [2019] No. 136). The project owner is Guangdong Guangzhou Railway Co., Ltd., and the tenderee is China Railway Design Group Co., Ltd.

Construction site: Foshan, Zhaoqing, Yunfu
Construction scale: The line starts from Guangzhou Railway Station, runs westward through Foshan, Zhaoqing, Yunfu, Yangjiang, Maoming and Zhanjiang, and ends at Zhanjiang North Railway Station, with a new double line of 400.1 km. Foshan, Shinkansen Airport Station, Xinxing South Station, Yangchun East Station, Yangjiang North Station, Mata Station, Maoming South Station, Wuchuan Station and Zhanjiang North Station are newly established, and Zhanjiang East Station and Yangxi Station are reserved. The construction period of this project is 5 years, with an estimated investment of 99.8 billion yuan.
