On January 1, 2023, the opening ceremony of Nepal Pokhara International Airport, which was built by a Chinese enterprise, was held. Nepalese Prime Minister Prachanda said that the new airport will help Nepal's economic development.

Prachanda said in his speech at the commissioning ceremony that with the commissioning of the new airport, Pokhara will become the center of communication between Nepal and many countries. He said that the new airport has been put into operation, the feasibility study of the Nepal-China cross-border railway has started, and some large projects are being launched with the support of China.

Wang Xin, Chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, emphasized in his speech that the new airport has become a bright business card for China-Nepal joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. The new airport is not only an aviation hub that facilitates personnel exchanges between Nepal, China and other countries in the world, but also a friendship project that witnesses the true love and mutual assistance between China and Nepal in times of adversity.

Pokhara International Airport is a 4D-level international airport that meets the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization. It is a key project of cooperation between the Chinese and Nigerian governments. The project is financed by the Export-Import Bank of China to the Nigerian side, and China CAMC Engineering Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China National Machinery Industry Corporation, is the general contractor. The project started construction in July 2017, with a construction period of four years, which was postponed for one year due to the impact of the epidemic. Editor/He Yuting
