On January 11, 2023, the Development and Reform Commission of Yunnan Province and the Development and Reform Commission of Sichuan Province jointly approved the feasibility study report of the construction project of the Ninglang to Shangri-La section of the Duyun to Shangri-La Expressway of the National High-speed Network G7611 in order to improve the connectivity level of Yunnan and Sichuan provinces and promote regional economic and social development.

Project overview

The main line of the project is 192.428 kilometers long, including 180.268 kilometers in Yunnan Province and 12.16 kilometers in Sichuan Province. It starts from the Dahua Mountain Tunnel at the junction of Baiyang Village, Changbai Township, Yanyuan County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province, and Niodong Village, Hongqiao Township, Ninglang County, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, and connects G7611 Duyun to the end of the Sichuan section of Shangri-La Expressway; It ends near Yisong, Shangri-La, and connects Lijiang to Shangri-La Expressway. The main line is constructed according to the standard of two-way four-lane expressway, with a design speed of 80km/h and a subgrade width of 25.5m.

There are 125 bridges, 45 tunnels and 12 interchanges on the main line, including 1 hub interchange and 11 ordinary interchanges. The project has a total of 9 interchange connecting lines with a construction mileage of 27.575 kilometers. Among them, the Shangri-La East Interchange connecting line in Yunnan Province is 2.249 km long, constructed according to the standard of Class I highway, with a design speed of 80 km/h and a subgrade width of 25.5 meters; The Luguhu Interchange connecting line is 1 km long, Cuiyu Interchange connecting line is 4.341 km long, Gewa Interchange connecting line is 4.461 km long, Labor Interchange connecting line is 3.65 km long, Luoji Interchange connecting line is 4.4 km long, Gangou Interchange connecting line is 3.067 km long, Jiulong Interchange connecting line is 2.907 km long, all of which are constructed according to the standard of Class III highway, with a design speed of 40 km/h and a subgrade width of 8.5 meters. The connecting line of Zhuozi Interchange in Sichuan Province is 1.5km long and constructed according to the standard of Class III highway, with a design speed of 40km/h and a subgrade width of 8.5m. The project is constructed in sections. By December 2022, the section from Duyun, Guizhou to Zhaotong, Yunnan, of Duxiang Expressway has been completed and opened to traffic; The section from Zhaotong, Yunnan to Jinyang, Sichuan has been basically completed; The Jinyang-Xichang section is under construction and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025; The Xichang section to Yanyuan section (boundary between Sichuan and Yunnan) has officially started and is expected to be completed by the end of 2028.
