The Saudi Port Authority laid the foundation for the upgrading and development of the two container terminals at King Abdulaziz Port in Oman. The project with a cost of 1.86 billion US dollars was carried out in cooperation with Saudi Arabia Global Port Company under the mode of construction, operation and transfer.

This project brings Mawani one step closer to realizing its road map inspired by Saudi Arabia's 2030 vision. It is said that its core is to optimize port operation and modern infrastructure to build a prosperous and sustainable marine ecosystem, and realize the desire of the national transportation and logistics strategy, positioning the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a global logistics destination connecting the three continents. Mawani and Eng President Omar Hariri. SGP Chairman Abdullah Al-Zamil and other senior logistics and maritime executives attended the launch ceremony.

In the middle of April 2020, Marvani signed a BOT contract worth US $1.8 billion for the development of Dammam Port. The project will renovate the berths and facilities of the first container terminal of the port, expand the berths and renovate the container yard in the second terminal. Mawani pointed out that the upgrade will enable the port to handle huge container ships.

The project will also add a customized sandbox to test cutting-edge technologies and conceptualize new processes before going online. In addition to creating more than 4000 local jobs, the project is expected to increase the total throughput of the port by 120% to 7.5 million TEUs, strengthen the national supply chain, promote foreign trade, and improve Saudi Arabia's ranking in the global index.

In the middle of November 2021, Marvani signed an agreement to build a new cruise terminal at King Abdulaziz Port in Oman. Mawani said that as part of its long-term strategy to deploy 160 high-impact development projects with a total cost of more than US $1 billion, it is keen to cooperate with leading industry entities to transform the ports of the Kingdom into the engine and transportation sector for the growth and investment of the shipping industry.

It is said that 2022 is a landmark year for King Abdulaziz Port and operator SGP.
