Zhejiang Wuxi River Pumped Storage Power Station Project Approved
The 14th Five-Year Plan is a new stage for the development of renewable energy, and pumped storage is a technologically mature regulated energy storage project, and it is one of the important ways to achieve the peak of carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality goals. On January 12, 2023, the Energy Bureau of the Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission issued the "Reply on the Approval of the Zhejiang Wuxi River Hybrid Pumped Storage Power Station Project".
It is understood that Zhejiang Huadian Quzhou Wuxi River Hybrid Pumped Storage Power Station is the first approved pumped storage power station project in Quzhou City during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, and it is also the second pumped storage power station in Qujiang District. The pumped storage power station has been included in the National Energy Administration's "Pumped Storage Medium and Long-Term Development Plan (2021-2035)" key implementation project library, and has obtained relevant supporting documents for project approval. The power station is located in the Wuxi River Basin, a tributary of the upper reaches of the Qiantang River in Qujiang District, about 40 kilometers away from downtown Quzhou. The power station is a daily regulating pure pumped storage power station with an installed capacity of 298 MW and an estimated total investment of 2.3 billion yuan. The upper reservoir uses the already built Hunan Town Reservoir, and the lower reservoir uses the already built Huangtankou Reservoir. It is reported that the construction period of the first generator for power generation of the project is 43 months, and the total construction period is 45 months. Editor/Xu Shengpeng
