Renewable energy developer FRV has announced its entry into the German market, opening its first German office in Munich in December and expressing its intention to develop 2GW of solar and storage assets over the next four years.

The Spanish company said its initial base in Munich will lead to more regional deployments as it looks to develop utility-scale and rooftop solar projects as well as energy storage systems across Germany.

"Germany is one of the most important markets for renewable energies and we believe that our products will be in high demand by organizations and companies, for example in the agricultural sector," said Managing Director Andreas Pfeifer. "

FRV clearly states that it is targeting solar projects and support to farmers and the agricultural sector. In February 2022, the German government announced its support for the development of photovoltaic projects on agricultural land, and studies are underway to explore the mutual benefits of agricultural photovoltaics for farmers and power producers.

The German solar industry has a lot of growth and support in 2022; Germany is the largest solar installation country in Europe in 2022, adding a total of 7.9GW to 2022, and renewable energy accounts for nearly half of the country's electricity generation. Last month, the European Commission approved nearly $30 billion in amendments to the country's renewable energy plan to help it meet its goals.

FRV operates several businesses in Latin America, both markets are also mature markets for solar PV. In December 2022, it achieved financial close on a 300MWp PV project in New South Wales, and not long ago it received approval to develop a 372MWp installation in Brazil.Editor/XingWentao
