According to the Press Bureau of the Presidential Palace, President Tokayev of Kazakhstan received Nurlan Sauranbayev, President of Kazakhstan State Railways, at the Presidential Palace on January 27.

During the talks, Savzanbayev reported to the President on the main work results of the State Railways Corporation in 2023, as well as the future work plan and the implementation of work tasks.

According to him, the freight turnover of the national railway company reached 252 billion ton-kilometers, the highest since independence. Calculated on the basis of 20-ton standard containers, the total volume of container transportation increased to 1.129 million TEUs.

In addition, the President also heard a report on the implementation of infrastructure projects. According to the plan, 1,285 kilometers of railways will be built in the next three years. At the same time, the share of Kazakh products and services used in railway construction will reach 85%. Sauranbayev pointed out that this will help increase Kazakhstan's cargo volume and further enhance its export potential.

The President of the National Railway Company also informed the President about the progress of the work aimed at further promoting the development of Kazakhstan's international transport corridors, expanding the throughput of the ports of Aktau and Kuruk, and strengthening cooperation among large international transport and logistics companies was introduced. It is worth noting that, according to previous Kazakh media reports, in 2022, Kazakhstan and China will transport 15% more goods by rail than in 2021. Export volumes increased by 17%, iron ore by 6%, non-ferrous metals by 45%, ferrous metals by 6%, containerized grain cargoes by 70% and other cargoes by 83%.

Kazakhstan National Railway Company announced that in 2022, the freight volume of Kazakhstan-China Railway will exceed 23 million tons, setting a historical record.
