Brazil's distributed generation sector has installed solar capacity of more than 17 GW, including PV projects of less than 5 MW in size. This new milestone corresponds to 98.6% of distributed generation projects in Brazil, with more than 2 million photovoltaic systems installed across the country.

According to the National Electric Energy Agency, by 2023, 21,606 new PV projects below 5 MW have been connected to the grid in the country, with a total capacity of 192.36 MW. In 2022, the solar distributed power generation sector will account for 7.27 GW, corresponding to 749,462 grid-connected photovoltaic systems.
In the past three months, the demand for distributed photovoltaic projects to be connected to the distribution network reached 32 GW. In October 2022, only 5 GW are in the pipeline. According to the Brazilian Association of Electricity Distributors, distributors received a total of 460,000 connection requests for projects below 75 kW and 26,500 for projects between 75 kW and 5 MW.
Energy Research Corporation - the R&D entity linked to the Ministry of Mines and Energy - only hopes to reach that amount within 10 years, Ricardo Brandão, the association's director of regulatory affairs, told a recent conference at Aneel's headquarters.Editor/XingWentao
