On February 13, 2023, the Pengshen 6 Well of PetroChina Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company located in the Penglai gas region was successfully drilled and successfully cemented. The deepest well reached 9026 meters, setting a new record for the deepest vertical well in Asia, which can be called the underground Mount Everest.

Well Pengshen 6 is located in Yanting County, Mianyang City. It is a key pre-exploration well for exploring the Dengying Formation in the Penglai Gas Area. Well Pengshen 6 was drilled by Team 90025 of PetroChina Chuanqing Drilling Company. It was spudded on July 5, 2021. The original design well depth was 7990 meters. M finished drilling.
