From February 18th to 19th, 2023, the 11th International Symposium on Internal Combustion Engine Reliability Technology was held in Jinan. Improving the reliability of internal combustion engines is also one of the important ways for my country to achieve the goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality as soon as possible.

Leading by example, Weichai takes the lead in reliability research

Reliability is to internal combustion engines what water is to fish. Regarding reliability, Weichai has the most say. Weichai, which regards reliability as a differentiated strategy for corporate development, is not only a pioneer, a leader, but also a participant and witness.

In 2015, the only national key laboratory in my country's internal combustion engine industry, the State Key Laboratory of Internal Combustion Engine Reliability, settled in Weichai, which marks that China's internal combustion engine reliability technology research has moved to a higher level. Since its establishment, the laboratory has always taken it as its own responsibility to overcome the technical problems of internal combustion engine reliability, and has cooperated with many well-known universities and research institutes at home and abroad to vigorously carry out technical research to promote the innovation of internal combustion engine reliability technology. A total of 5 international standards, 20 national standards, 32 industry standards have been released, 676 patents have been authorized, including 330 invention patents, and 34 awards above the provincial and ministerial level have been awarded, including 1 first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and the National Technology Invention 1 second prize, 1 second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, and achieved fruitful results in key areas such as reliability basic theory research, reliability research of complete machines and key components, and reliability prediction and evaluation, especially reliability Increased from 1.2 million kilometers to 1.8 million kilometers. Since 2020, Weichai has successively released the world's first commercial diesel engines with body thermal efficiencies of 50.23%, 51.09%, and 52.28%, setting new benchmarks for the thermal efficiency of diesel engines in the world three times, leading my country's internal combustion engine industry to a world-class level.

As Tan Xuguang emphasized in his speech at the opening ceremony, high-power diesel engines will never disappear on the earth. Green and low-carbon development has become a global consensus. The internal combustion engine industry needs the leapfrog development of core technologies more than ever before. Subversive breakthroughs in cutting-edge technology are required, and integrated innovations from global peers are even more needed.
