Recently, the launching ceremony of Damushan pumped storage power station in Tongshan, Hubei was held on February 16. Hubei Tongshan Damushan Pumped Storage Power Station Project is a key implementation project of the 14th Five-Year Plan of the National Energy Administration, with a planned installed capacity of 1.4 million kilowatts, an annual power generation of 1.56 billion kWh, and an annual pumped power of 2.08 billion kWh.

According to reports, the preparation period of the project is 24 months, and the construction period of the main project is 76 months. It is planned to be put into operation for power generation in 2030. The construction of the power station can promote the construction of local infrastructure and the development of related industries. During the construction period, it will indirectly provide about 4,000 jobs of various types and increase local fiscal revenue by about 150 million yuan.

The relevant person in charge of the State Grid Xianning Power Supply Company introduced that the pumped storage power station is like a super charging treasure. Using electric energy to pump water to the upper reservoir when the power load is low, and then release water to the lower reservoir to generate power during the peak power load period is an important part of helping green and low-carbon transformation and building a new power system. The overall regulation capacity of Damushan Pumped Storage Power Station can reach 2.8 million kilowatts, which can save 530,000 tons of standard coal consumption and 1.398 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year.

After the project is completed, it can give full play to the important functions of peak shaving, valley filling, frequency regulation, phase regulation and emergency backup, effectively enhance the peak power supply capacity of the power grid, and ensure the safe and stable operation of central China and Hubei power grids; it can effectively stabilize the randomness and fluctuation of new energy Sexual impact, promote the consumption of clean energy, and boost the green transformation of energy.
