Mongolian President Ukhna Khurelsukh accepted an exclusive interview during his state visit to China. When talking about the cooperation between Mongolia and China in environmental protection, Mongolian President Khurelsukh said that China's successful experience in green development is worth learning, and cooperation among countries in the region should be promoted to build a community of shared future.

Mongolian President Khurelsukh: We believe that everything in nature has life. Mongolians call the earth "mother" and the sky "father". We should respect nature and protect the ecological environment. If the natural environment is not cared for, it will pose a great threat to human survival. Therefore, it is very important for human beings to protect the ecological environment. If Mongolia's natural environment continues to deteriorate, it will have a negative impact on China. In recent years, the dust weather in Mongolia is caused by natural factors. Strong sand and dust weather will damage the geographical environment, cause huge economic losses, and affect people's quality of life. We should go to the source of sandstorms to plant trees, and the main source is the desertification zone of Mongolia, a landlocked country in East Asia. In order to protect nature, I advocate that all people plant trees. Mongolians often say, "Water is the source of life, and trees are the guardians of water."

We must promote the docking of the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping with Mongolia's Prairie Road development strategy. This not only effectively promotes our bilateral cooperative relations, but also vigorously promotes regional development, consolidates cooperative relations among various countries, and provides a strong guarantee for realizing our lofty goals and promoting the implementation of major construction projects. Therefore, Mongolia has always expressed support for the Belt and Road Initiative and is willing to cooperate with all parties within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. During the (22nd) meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization held in Samarkand in September 2022, the heads of state of Mongolia, China and Russia will meet and formally launch the upgrade of the middle-line railway of the Mongolia-China-Russia Economic Corridor. Actively promote the laying project of China-Russia natural gas pipeline transiting through Mongolia. These are major projects. In addition, we have reached broad consensus on promoting the construction of the Asian Highway Network for cross-border transportation passing through Mongolia, China and Russia, energy cooperation, railway integration between Mongolia and China, and improvement of port traffic capacity. I firmly believe that the consensus reached by the two sides has not only injected strong impetus into the practical cooperation between the two countries, but also sent a positive signal to the economic development of countries in the region.
