Under the background of accelerating the realization of dual carbon targets, the task facing China's power industry is very arduous. On March 7, 2023, the Bazhou-Tieganlik-Ruoqiang 750 kV power transmission and transformation project officially started construction in Bayingoleng Mongolia Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang, which is also the largest single investment in Xinjiang's 750 kV power transmission and transformation project Power Grid Engineering.
The Bazhou-Tieganlik-Ruoqiang 750 kV power transmission and transformation project has a total investment of 4.616 billion yuan. The construction is carried out around the southeast side of the Tarim Basin. 90% of the project volume is located in areas with harsh natural environments such as Gobi and deserts. The project is expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2024. After completion, Bazhou will form a 750 kV hub-type backbone power grid pattern connecting the north to the south, extending from the west to the east, and strongly supporting the construction of the third AC transmission channel of Xinjiang power grid.
It is understood that by the end of 2022, the total installed capacity in Xinjiang has reached 121 million kilowatts. During the 14th Five-Year Plan, the planned investment in Xinjiang's power grid will exceed 110 billion yuan, an increase of 55% over the 13th Five-Year Plan. By 2025, Xinjiang will build three UHV DC transmission projects, further strengthen the 750 kV regional interconnection and the main grid structure in Xinjiang, and realize the three-channel interconnection with the Northwest Power Grid. And at the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan, a main grid structure with seven rings for internal supply and six channels for external delivery will be formed, providing strong momentum for Xinjiang's energy advantages to be transformed into economic advantages.
