German manufacturer AE Solar plans to build a module manufacturing plant with an annual capacity of 10GW in Romania. In the first phase, the company will build a 2GW capacity, which will be completed later in 2023, according to the Romanian government. The plant will require an investment of 1 billion euros, and the government is seeking to free up European funds or state aid to support construction of the project.
Once the project is complete and the production process fully integrated, the facility will have an annual production capacity of 10GW, one-third of the European Commission's target of 30GW of European manufacturing capacity across the value chain by 2025.
Since the EU unveiled its Green Deal industrial plan to boost domestic renewable energy manufacturing, other companies have announced plans to build solar panel production plants in Europe, including utility Iberdrola and Spanish manufacturer Exiom, with a 500MW tunnel oxide passivation Contact facilities are planned for 2023 in Spain. The company uses different technologies to produce its solar panels, including heterojunction and TOPCon.
The Prime Minister of Romania said that this investment will make Romania the center of solar panel production in Europe, making a significant contribution not only to energy independence but also to the protection of the environment by using renewable and clean energy to generate electricity. In addition, the European Commission recently approved a €259 million program from the Romanian government to support Romanian investment in solar photovoltaic cells and panels.
Solar Media will host the third large-scale solar CEE in Warsaw, Poland on November 14-15. The event will focus on Eastern Europe with panel discussions, presentations and fireside chats by industry leaders responsible for building solar and storage projects in Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Hungary.Editor/XingWentao
