Saudi Arabia's communications technology market is growing rapidly, it was revealed during the ICT Indicators Forum in Riyadh that the Kingdom's Communications and Space and Technology Council has invested 93 billion riyals ($24.7 billion) in developing digital infrastructure over the past six years .
According to the CITC organization, as of 2022, the market size of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is about 154 billion riyals, making it the fastest growing and largest digital infrastructure market in the MENA region. It noted that Saudi Arabia's improved digital infrastructure has helped provide customers with better quality of service, as the kingdom's mobile internet speeds now exceed 181 megabits per second, twice the global average and the fastest mobile internet speed in the world. CITC President Mohammed Al-Tamimi pointed out in his speech at the forum that Saudi Arabia has launched high-speed Internet services in 21,000 villages and immigration areas in various regions of the Kingdom, ensuring the continuity of communication services for more than 5 million people. And Saudi Arabia's 5G coverage has increased to 53%, while Riyadh has exceeded 94%, and fiber coverage has reached 3.7 million Saudi households. At the same time, due to the sharp increase in the use of Internet services, the mobile communication subscription rate has reached 172% of the country's population, and the per capita daily mobile Internet data consumption has also exceeded 1200MB, three times the global average.
During the event, CITC also released the "Saudi Internet Report 2022", which pointed out that the proportion of online purchases of products and services will reach 62.6% in 2022, of which 74.4% are women and 53.6% are men.
