In September 2022, the first batch of intelligent trams independently developed by CRRC Zhuzhou Institute and delivered overseas rolled off the production line in Zhuzhou, Hunan, and were exported to the United Arab Emirates, a country along the Belt and Road. Li Donglin said: "Smart rail trains have the characteristics of small infrastructure investment, short construction period, and flexible scheduling. They provide a Chinese solution for the construction of urban rail transit at home and abroad that takes into account both transport capacity and cost advantages."

In recent years, CRRC Zhuzhou Institute has actively responded to the Belt and Road Initiative. In 2022 alone, it has completed the signing of contracts for two overseas smart rail projects in the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia, and the internationalization rate of newly signed orders is as high as 83.93%.

In addition, the "heart" and "brain" of the train developed by CRRC Zhuzhou - the traction electric drive system and the network control system, have been running on the tracks of many countries along the Belt and Road along with the export of "Chinese cars" in recent years .

On December 3, 2021, the China-Laos Railway Fuxing "Hulk" and "Lancang" EMUs were put into operation. As a landmark project of China-Laos friendship, the China-Laos Railway is the first cross-border railway that is mainly invested and constructed by the Chinese side, jointly operated and directly connected to the Chinese railway network.

CRRC Zhuzhou Institute provided the key core technologies of traction electric drive and network control for the two EMUs. Among them, the traction converter as the "heart" can control the output power and drive the energy of the whole vehicle; as the network control system of the "brain" of the whole vehicle, it can allow the train to automatically identify and diagnose faults and escort safe travel.

According to Li Donglin, since the opening of the China-Laos Railway, the technicians of CRRC Zhuzhou Institute have fully cooperated with the guarantee operation of the EMU, and the operation of supporting products has maintained zero failure. Up to now, the EMUs with technical equipment provided by CRRC Zhuzhou have run more than 710,000 kilometers without failure.

On the Indonesian Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway, the "first order" for China's high-speed rail system, all elements, and the entire production chain to go abroad, CRRC Zhuzhou's special operating environment of high temperature, high humidity, and high salt fog has great impact on traction , network, charging machine and other related products are designed in order to better adapt to the environment; at the same time, according to the line conditions of the long ramp, the design of nearly 10 kinds of countermeasures and ground test verification have been carried out.

"After the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway is completed and opened to traffic, the train running time from Jakarta to Bandung will be shortened from the current more than 3 hours to 40 minutes, which is of great significance to Indonesia's economic and social development and to promoting the high-quality development of the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative," Li Donglin said. .
