In order to hurry up the construction period, the project team members gave up the Spring Festival holiday of the Year of the Rabbit and rushed to the front line of construction to seize the golden period of construction in the dry season. This is also the first Spring Festival that the project team has spent in a foreign country.

In the face of fierce market competition, the company took the initiative to serve the national strategy, and found a new way to expand overseas markets through secondary marketing. Cambodia's Shangda Dai Hydropower Station C1 bid project is the first Belt and Road construction project that the company participated in, and it is a brand new challenge. To this end, the company has specially mobilized a team with rich experience in tunneling to empower the project construction. The project is located in the upper reaches of the Tatay Hydropower Station that has been built in Cambodia. It is about 46 kilometers away from Koh Kong City, Koh Kong Province, about 170 kilometers away from Phnom Penh, and about 125 kilometers away from Sihanoukville Port. It is mainly composed of two parts: the Kep River Junction and the Tatay River Junction. After completion, it will better guarantee local power supply and help Cambodia's energy green development. The content of the company's implementation is the diversion tunnel of the Shangda Dai Hydropower Station in Cambodia, which is about 3 kilometers long, including the entrance section of the tunnel, the diversion tunnel and the 2# construction branch tunnel. Among them, the diversion tunnel adopts a city gate tunnel with a cross-sectional size of 6 meters × 8 meters, and its length is about 411.5 meters. It is 368 meters, the outlet floor is connected with the diversion tunnel floor, the elevation is about 32.5.76 meters, and the average longitudinal slope is about 7.5%. The contract period is 3 years, and the construction will officially start in January 2023.

Race against the bumps

The location of the project is remote in the primeval forest of the Cardamom Mountains in southwest Cambodia. The incompatibility of the newcomers almost made the project team feel unaccustomed to the environment. On rainy days, the amount of cement and sand from the project site increased significantly, and white clothes turned yellow after washing. In addition, the communication network signal is not smooth, which makes the employees who cannot reunite with their families during the Spring Festival feel more nostalgic. Facing the severe construction situation and the pressure of the natural environment, the project team firmly believed, twisted into a rope, turned the feeling of nostalgia into work motivation, and went all out to ensure the progress of the construction.

The 2# construction branch tunnel of the project is located on the key line of the progress plan, and is the main construction channel for the subsequent diversion tunnel construction. During the excavation of earthwork outside the cave entrance, due to geological reasons, the supported slope became unstable after the rainfall, and local cracks occurred. Through the joint efforts of all parties involved in the project, the plane position of the entrance of the cave was adjusted in time, but at the same time, the construction content of excavation outside the entrance of the cave was increased, and the operation time of the engineering outside the cave was lengthened. Since the entry section of the tunnel is open cut, it means that it must be completed before the rainy season in April, and the construction period is imminent. To this end, the project team formulated an optimized construction plan, decomposed the key and urgent construction tasks, worked overtime, and worked day and night, and finally successfully completed the entrance of the 2# construction branch tunnel, gaining precious time for the later tunnel excavation . At present, the project site construction is proceeding in an orderly manner, and strive to complete the excavation and support task of the 2# construction branch tunnel as soon as possible, so as to create more favorable conditions for the follow-up work.
