From March 12 to 13, 2023, the review meeting of the pre-feasibility study report of Guangzhou Investment Hezhou Pumped Storage Power Station was held in Hezhou. Before the review meeting, the review expert group conducted a field survey of the engineering geology, topography, hydrology and sediment of the upper and lower water reservoir areas and the dam site area of Guangtou Hezhou Pumped-storage Power Station, listened to the introduction of the relevant information of the design unit, and understood the site geological survey and the core and rock sample conditions in detail. At the review meeting, participants listened to the results of the pre-feasibility study report of the design unit and discussed and deliberated in groups. The meeting considered that the content and depth of work of the report met the requirements of the preparation procedure of the pre-feasibility study report, and basically agreed with the report.

Hezhou Pumped Storage Power Station

It is understood that Guangtou Hezhou Pumped-storage Power Station is a key project planned to be implemented by the state and Guangxi. The planned installed capacity is 1200 MW. It is planned to install four reversible hydro-generator units with a single unit capacity of 300 MW. The daily continuous full generating hours are 6 hours, and the annual on-grid power is about 1.4 billion kilowatt-hours. The total investment is initially estimated to be 8.4 billion yuan.

After the completion of the power station, it will mainly undertake the tasks of peak shaving, valley filling, energy storage, frequency modulation, phase modulation and emergency standby of Guangxi power system. After the completion of the power station, it will support the construction of a new power system with new energy as the main body, which is of great significance for promoting green development, boosting rural revitalization and promoting local economic and social development. The successful review of the pre-feasibility study report of Guangzhou Investment Hezhou Pumped Storage Power Station marks a key step in the preliminary work of the project and creates conditions for the work in the feasibility study stage.

With Guangxi's deep integration into the the Belt and Road construction, its comprehensive connection with the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, its efforts to build a new land and sea channel in the west, and its efforts to build a new pattern of cooperation between the east and the west, mutual aid between the north and the south, prosperity towards the sea, and all-round opening and development towards the sea, its economic development continues to be stable and good. Based on Guangxi's energy and resource endowment, actively developing wind energy, solar energy and other new energy, and supporting the construction of a certain scale of pumped storage power stations are the main ways to meet Guangxi's future power demand, and also the key measures to actively respond to the national carbon peak, carbon neutral decision-making and deployment, and promote the green and low-carbon transformation of the energy structure.
