Recently, Foshan announced the plan for key construction projects in 2023, with a total investment of 546 provincial and municipal key projects exceeding 1 trillion yuan. Among them, there are 132 infrastructure projects with a total investment of over 510 billion yuan. Many of these key projects are high-speed rail, intercity, subway, airport and other transportation projects.

Nearly half of the total investment is invested in infrastructure construction

According to the project plan announced by Foshan Key Project Work Bureau, Foshan has 546 official provincial and municipal key construction projects this year, with a total investment of 1.070074 trillion yuan. Among them, there are 211 official provincial key construction projects with a total investment of 803.010 billion yuan and an annual planned investment of 75.002 billion yuan; there are 335 official municipal key construction projects with a total investment of 267.064 billion yuan and an annual planned investment of 45.005 billion yuan. These projects include infrastructure projects, industrial projects, and people's livelihood security projects. Among them, the total investment in infrastructure projects accounted for about 48%. This also highlights Foshan's determination and actions to perfect the three-dimensional transportation network and improve infrastructure.

In infrastructure projects, intercity, high-speed rail, subway, etc. have attracted much attention. In 2023, among the official provincial key construction projects, there are 8 railway projects involving Foshan, of which 5 are continued construction projects and 3 are newly started projects. The Foshan section of the Foshan-Guangzhou intercity, the Foshan section of the connecting line from Guangzhou South to Guangzhou Station, and the Foshan section of the newly-built Shenzhen-Nanning high-speed rail Pearl River Delta hub airport to the provincial boundary section are all scheduled to start in 2023 and complete in 2027.

In 2023, Foshan will have 60 provincial key preparatory projects, with an estimated total investment of 451.277 billion yuan; and 113 municipal key construction preparatory projects, with an estimated total investment of 92.415 billion yuan. Among them, the transportation infrastructure projects also have many bright spots.

Two subway lines in Foshan have been included in the preparatory projects for key provincial construction in 2023. Among them, the subway of the Foshan Urban Rail Transit Line 11 project is 36.4 kilometers long, with an estimated total investment of over 26 billion yuan; the second phase of the Foshan Urban Rail Transit Line 2 project has a subway length of 23.5 kilometers, with an estimated total investment of over 12.2 billion yuan.

Pearl River Delta Hub Guangzhou New Airport

The much-watched Guangzhou New Airport project, the hub of the Pearl River Delta, has also been included in the preliminary preparation projects for key provincial construction in 2023. In addition to the air traffic control project and fuel supply project, the total investment is estimated to exceed 50 billion yuan.

Among them, the Pearl River Delta Hub (Guangzhou New) Airport project has an estimated total investment of over 47.2 billion yuan. It will build a set of two long-distance parallel runways and taxiway systems, with a flight area level standard of 4F; build a T1 airport of about 370,000 square meters. Station building, supporting construction of comprehensive transportation center, parking building and other transportation facilities. In addition, the estimated total investment of the Pearl River Delta hub Guangzhou New Airport fuel supply project is 1.493 billion yuan, and the estimated total investment of the air traffic control project is 1.39 billion yuan.

Not long ago, the work report of the Foshan Municipal Government mentioned that new progress has been made in the preliminary work of the airport project, and it has entered a new stage of provincial and municipal joint venture construction.
