On March 19, 2023, China and Central and Eastern European countries jointly built the key project of the Belt and Road, and the Beno section of the Hungary-Serbia Railway in Serbia (Belgrade to Novi Sad) completed its first anniversary of safe and orderly operation, with a total of 2.93 million passengers. It has greatly facilitated the travel of people along the line, and has become the flagship project of international cooperation between China and Serbia railways, playing an active role in serving the high-quality development of the joint construction of the Belt and Road.

The Hungary-Serbia Railway runs from Budapest, the capital of Hungary in the north, to Belgrade, the capital of Serbia in the south, with a total length of 341.7 kilometers. On March 19, 2022, the Beno section of the Hungary-Serbia Railway in Serbia will be opened. Zova to Novi Sad) consists of two sections. China Railway International Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., took the lead and joined hands with China Communications Construction Co., Ltd. to form a Chinese joint venture to build the Beijiu section in the mode of general engineering contracting and subcontract the communication signal project of the Jiunuo section.

Since the opening of the Beno section of the Hungary-Serbia Railway in Serbia, the maximum speed of trains has increased from 40 to 50 kilometers per hour to 200 kilometers per hour. The quality and efficiency of transportation have been greatly improved. It has become the first choice for local people to travel, and the number of passengers dispatched has increased significantly. Over the past year, this section has operated more than 50 passenger trains per day, transporting more than 8,200 passengers, and the highest number of passengers per day is 14,400. The running time of the train from Belgrade to Novi Sad has been reduced from more than 90 minutes to about 30 minutes, which greatly shortens the travel time between cities along the line.
