On March 17, 2023, China Southern Grid Energy Storage and the Jieyang Municipal People's Government signed a framework agreement on the cooperative development and construction of the pumped storage power station project. The two parties agreed to jointly invest in the development of the Dayang pumped storage power station project in Jiexi County, Jieyang City.

According to the medium and long-term development plan for pumped storage of the National Energy Administration (2021-2035), the Dayang pumped storage power station project is located in Wujingfu Town, Jiexi County, Jieyang City, with a planned installed capacity of 1.2 million kilowatts and a total investment of about 8 billion yuan. The project has the construction conditions for an installed capacity of 2.4 million kilowatts, and it can be expanded in accordance with national planning adjustments and power grid load requirements. The installed capacity and investment of Dayang Project shall be subject to the feasibility study design plan approved by the project.
