On March 16, 2023, the Syrian President said in an interview after his meeting with Putin that the two countries are planning 40 investment projects in the fields of energy, industry, transportation, and housing construction.

Assad said: "The meeting of the Russia-Syria Joint Committee is characterized by focusing on investment projects and agreements to be signed. These agreements involve 40 specific investment projects, covering energy, electricity, oil, transportation, housing construction, industry-related field, and many others with clear projects."

He said that previous talks had not been so fruitful. In addition, the Syrian leader emphasized that the new project will also consider control mechanisms.
