Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company has signed a preliminary agreement with the City of Amman to explore investment opportunities in the waste management sector. Tadweer, part of Abu Dhabi Holding's ADQ portfolio, and the Greater Amman Municipality will evaluate potential partnerships and investment opportunities between the UAE and Jordanian public and private sectors, the UAE Media Office said.
The parties will also seek to share expertise, insights and research related to waste management. They also plan to coordinate efforts, provide training and raise awareness in the field.
Ali Al Dhaheri, CEO of Tadweer, said the signing of the MoU reaffirms Tadweer's commitment to forging partnerships with stakeholders in the waste management space both locally and globally. This partnership is part of our efforts to develop joint solutions, exchange knowledge and expertise based on world-class research and research, and build on the success stories and initiatives of both countries. In December, Abu Dhabi's ADQ added Tadweer to its energy and utilities portfolio.
The portfolio includes Abu Dhabi National Energy Company, Emirates Nuclear Energy, Emirates Hydro and Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Tadweer is the only company in Abu Dhabi dealing with waste management.
It aims to develop an integrated waste management sector and extract value from waste to contribute to the UAE's sustainable development goals. The agreement reflects our ongoing efforts to develop solid waste management projects in partnership with private sector entities, said Amman Mayor Yousef Al Shawarbeh.
