With the continuous construction of water conservancy projects, China's water resource allocation capabilities are also continuously enhanced. In 2022, China will complete an investment of 1,089.3 billion yuan in water conservancy construction, an increase of 43.8% over 2021, and a historic step to one trillion yuan. China's water conservancy projects have a water supply capacity of more than 890 billion cubic meters, effectively guaranteeing national economic security, food security, ecological security, and water security for urban and rural residents.

The construction of the national water network is also speeding up. In August 2022, the Ministry of Water Resources identified seven provinces including Shandong, Hubei, Guangdong, and Guangxi as the first batch of provincial water network pilot areas, and strived to achieve remarkable results in 3-5 years. The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Water Resources stated that in 2023, China will continue to focus on the east, middle and west lines of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project, scientifically promote the planning and construction of a number of major cross-basin and cross-regional water diversion projects, and accelerate the construction of the main framework of the national water network and aorta.Editor/Ma Xue
