Recently, Unit 7 of the 2x335MW expansion project of Wangi Power Plant in Zimbabwe under the EPC general contract of China Power Construction Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. was successfully connected to the grid for the first time.

SZ.Gata, Executive President of Zimbabwe's National Power Supply Authority, Marawa, Permanent Secretary of the President's Office of Zimbabwe, and project builders witnessed this historic moment. The project's power generation target was achieved on schedule, laying a solid foundation for the next 168 hours of full-load trial operation.

The project is located in Wangji Town, about 485 kilometers west of Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe. It consists of two parts: power station and power transmission and transformation. The power station part is 2×335MW subcritical coal-fired units and supporting auxiliary facilities. After completion, it will meet 50% of Zimbabwe's national electricity demand, provide thousands of local employment opportunities in Zimbabwe, greatly alleviate Zimbabwe's electricity shortage situation, and promote local economic development, which has great political, economic and social significance.

In the next step, the Wangji Project Department will continue to uphold a high sense of responsibility and mission, actively cooperate with all relevant parties in the project to carry out various tests and 168-hour trial operation of #7 unit after grid connection, and promote the first unit of the project to enter the commercial operation stage as soon as possible At the same time, we will fully cooperate with all parties to do a good job in the trial operation of unit #8 to ensure that the project will enter the commercial operation stage on schedule and make positive contributions to the economic and social development of Zimbabwe.Editor/Ma Xue
