Under the background of accelerating the implementation of dual carbon targets, the construction of pumped storage power stations will boost sustainable economic development. Recently, the Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County (Taxian County) in Kashgar, Xinjiang, which is located on the Pamir Plateau, held the 2023 major project intensive resumption of work and the start-up ceremony for the preliminary work of the Shenneng (Taxian) pumped storage project.

Shenneng (Taxian) pumped storage project is invested and constructed by Shenzhen Energy Group. With an investment of 9.3 billion yuan, four 300,000-kilowatt reversible hydroelectric generating units will be built, which is a first-class large (I) project; after the project is put into operation, a total of 550,000-kilowatt new energy construction indicators can be obtained.

At the ceremony, 26 major livelihood guarantee projects including the Shenzhen-aided Xinjiang Project Healthy Ta County were resumed together with the Shenneng (Ta County) pumped storage project. It is understood that since the tenth batch of assistance to Xinjiang in 2020, Shenzhen has supported the Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County as a counterpart, and has invested a total of 498 million yuan in financial funds. There are 79 aid projects in Xinjiang, such as rural revitalization demonstration characteristic towns, frontier mutual markets, Shenta medical education personnel exchange and training, etc. Shenzhen's aid to Xinjiang has become an important force for the high-quality development of Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County. It has been highly recognized by the party committees, governments and people in the recipient places.
