On March 28, 2023, the left hole of the Guigala Tunnel on the S5 line in Tibet, which was undertaken by the China Communications Second Public Transport Bureau, was successfully completed. Offer hada.

Tibet S5 Line Lhasa-Zedang Expressway Project connects Lhasa and Shannan City, starting from Linla Expressway Interchange Hub, Deqing Town, Dazi District, Lhasa City, connecting with Linla Expressway, and ending at Gongze, Sanye Town, Shannan City High-speed interchange hub. Among them, the Guigala Tunnel, with a total length of 12.8 kilometers, is currently the longest ultra-high-altitude highway tunnel in the world, and is also a control project for the Tibet S5 Line Lhasa-Zedang Expressway Project.

The design speed of the Guigala Tunnel is 80 kilometers per hour. It is a separated double-hole structure. The distance between the two holes is 25 to 35 meters. The maximum buried depth of the tunnel is about 1,152 meters.

In order to overcome the complex geological conditions faced by the excavation of long and high-altitude tunnels, such as shallow burial, rich water, bias pressure, coal seam gas, high and extremely high ground stress, and sudden mud and water gushing, the project adheres to the management concept of mechanized replacement of personnel and intelligent reduction of personnel. Extensively citing four new technologies, successively introduced advanced equipment such as three-arm rock drilling jumbo, waterproof board automatic laying and hanging trolley, mobile hydraulic trestle, purchased plateau electric loaders and electric excavators, and adopted an intelligent concrete pouring system And BIM management system, build a smart construction site in an all-round way, while reducing the labor intensity of workers, improve the working environment of employees, improve construction efficiency, and use technological innovation to ensure that the tunnel will be completed as scheduled.

The average altitude of the Guigala Tunnel is above 4,000 meters, and some construction areas exceed 4,500 meters. The construction environment is extremely cold and hypoxic, and workers cannot work continuously in the tunnel for more than 4 hours. Under such extremely difficult construction conditions, all the builders fully carried forward the spirit of the two roads, faced up to the difficulties, fought bravely, and achieved the goal of completing the left tunnel of the Guigala Tunnel as scheduled.

It is reported that after the Tibet S5 line Lhasa-Shannan fast track project is completed, the time from Lhasa to Shannan will be shortened from the current 3 hours to 1 hour, which will greatly facilitate the travel of people along the line, stimulate tourism and agricultural and animal husbandry industries along the line, and further promote the high-quality development of the regional economy.
