Xi Jinping pointed out that China and the EU share broad common interests, cooperation outweighs competition, and consensus outweighs differences. At present, the international situation is complex and ever-changing. China and the EU should adhere to mutual respect, enhance political mutual trust, strengthen dialogue and cooperation, jointly maintain world peace and stability, promote common development and prosperity, and jointly address global challenges. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the EU. China is willing to work with the EU to grasp the general direction and main tone of China-EU relations, comprehensively restart exchanges at all levels, activate mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, and inject new impetus into the development of China-EU relations and world peace, stability and prosperity.

Xi Jinping emphasized the need to enhance the stability of China-EU relations. China-EU relations are not targeted at, dependent on, or controlled by a third party. China always views China-EU relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, and maintains stability and continuity in its EU policy. It is hoped that the European side will form a more independent and objective understanding of China and pursue a pragmatic and positive China policy. The two sides should respect each other's core interests and major concerns, and seek common ground and resolve differences through dialogue and consultation. We should respect each other's development paths. Chinese-style modernization and European integration are strategic choices made by the two sides with an eye to the future. The two sides should be credible and reliable partners on the road to each other's development. The Chinese people are proud of the correct development path they have found that suits their national conditions. The two sides should seek common ground while reserving differences, tolerate, appreciate, learn from and promote each other. Exaggerating the so-called "democracy against authoritarianism" and provoking a "new cold war" will only bring division and confrontation to the world. We must maintain an open and trustworthy cooperation environment. China and the EU should maintain two-way openness, provide a fair and non-discriminatory business environment for each other's companies, and avoid politicizing and securityizing economic and trade issues. The two sides should build a stable and trustworthy supply chain, connect the "Belt and Road" initiative with the EU's "Global Gateway" strategy, and help the long-term and stable economic growth of both sides.

Xi Jinping emphasized that China has always adhered to genuine multilateralism and adhered to the global governance concept of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits. International order, the basic norms of international relations based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. China and the EU should jointly maintain world stability and prosperity, oppose hegemonism, unilateralism, and "decoupling and broken chains". The two sides should strengthen communication and coordination of macroeconomic and financial policies, deepen green partnership, and strengthen dialogue and cooperation in green finance, environmental technology, clean energy and other fields. The two sides should help developing countries develop together, promote multilateral institutions and financial capital to participate more in the G20 debt suspension initiative, and explore trilateral and multi-party cooperation in Africa and other places.

Ursula von der Leyen said that the European side respects Chinese history and culture. A candid and constructive dialogue between the EU and China and maintaining the sustainable development of EU-China relations are crucial to the peace and stability of Europe. The EU and China are each other's important trading partners, and their economies are highly interrelated. "Decoupling" from China is not in the interests of the EU and is not a strategic choice of the EU. The EU decides its China policy independently. The EU side is willing to restart the EU-China high-level economic and trade dialogue with the Chinese side, promote the stable and balanced development of EU-China economic and trade relations, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. The European side congratulates China on successfully hosting the fifteenth Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, appreciates China's efforts to reduce carbon emissions, and hopes to strengthen communication and coordination with China, and cooperate to deal with global challenges, so as to promote world peace, stability and Development plays its due role.

Macron said that today's world is full of uncertainties, and it is necessary for the EU and China to strengthen dialogue and exchanges with mutual respect, candor and humility. The two sides should work together not to fall into the trap of "decoupling and broken links", carry out cooperation on an equal footing and mutual benefit, jointly address urgent global challenges such as climate change, and continuously deepen the EU-China comprehensive strategic partnership.

The three leaders exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis. Von der Leyen and Macron introduced the views of the European side, saying that China is not the maker of the Ukrainian crisis. The European side appreciates China's efforts to promote a political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, expects China to play a more important role, and is willing to cooperate with China to find peace Ways to facilitate talks.

Xi Jinping emphasized that China always decides its position independently based on the merits of the matter itself. China's policy on the Ukraine issue can be summed up in one sentence, which is to promote peace and talks. China urges all parties to remain calm and rational, and jointly create conditions for peace talks. The top priority at the moment is to promote a ceasefire and stop the war, and oppose fueling the fire and complicating the problem. The Ukraine crisis is not a problem between China and Europe. China will continue to play an active role in persuading peace and promoting talks, and supports the European side in proposing ideas and plans for a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis based on its own fundamental and long-term interests, and promoting the establishment of a balanced, effective and sustainable European security framework.Editor/Ma Xue
