On April 7, 2023, three major projects including the upgrade and expansion of the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park, the Malaysia-China Kuantan International Logistics Park, the second phase of United Iron and Steel, and the Zhongxin Resources Recycling Technology Malaysia Project started construction in Malaysia.

The Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park, jointly built by the Malaysian IJM Group, the Pahang State Government, and Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group, covers an area of about 12 square kilometers. According to reports, the upgrade and expansion of the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park is mainly reflected in four aspects: first, space upgrade, that is, to expand the park to surrounding areas and other suitable areas in Malaysia, and create a "one park with multiple districts" development model; second, industrial upgrading, namely Carry out diversified layout around the creation of high-end manufacturing industries such as new materials, new energy vehicles and power batteries, electronic appliances, and equipment manufacturing. services; the fourth is interactive upgrades, building cross-border industrial chains, cross-border supply chains, and cross-border financial chains around the interactive development with Qinzhou Industrial Park.

Malaysia-China Kuantan International Logistics Park

It is reported that the Malaysia-China Kuantan International Logistics Park covers an area of about 4,000 mu, with a total investment of about 6 billion yuan. It is jointly developed by China Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., Malaysia IJM Group, and Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group. The logistics park focuses on the development of warehousing near the port, logistics distribution, processing and transit trade. It will give full play to the advantages of Kuantan Port and Malaysia's East Coast Railway to create a new international land-sea trade channel Southeast Asia logistics hub node.

United Iron and Steel Phase II Project

The second-phase project of United Steel is located in the southeast of the first-phase project, with a total investment of more than 12 billion yuan, invested and constructed by Guangxi Shenglong Metallurgical Co., Ltd. After the project is put into operation, the production capacity of United Iron and Steel will increase from the current 3.5 million tons per year to 10 million tons, and the annual sales are expected to exceed 40 billion yuan, creating more jobs for the local area and promoting regional economic development.

Zhongxin Resources Recycling Technology Malaysia Project

Zhongxin Resources Recycling Technology Malaysia Project covers an area of about 103 mu, with a total investment of 200 million yuan, invested and constructed by Zhongxin Resources Recycling Technology Malaysia Co., Ltd.

On the same day, another important project on the new international land-sea trade channel, the Kuantan Port-Beibu Gulf Port-China Sichuan-Chongqing multimodal transport route was officially opened. This route was upgraded on the basis of the original route, highlighting the one-stop multi-modal Intermodal features. After boarding the ship from Kuantan Port and arriving at the Beibu Gulf Port, the Malaysian goods can be quickly distributed to 17 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) in the central and western regions of China through rail-sea intermodal trains.

Li Yanqiang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group, said that the opening of this route symbolizes that Kuantan Port and Beibu Gulf Port have set up a new bridge for close exchanges and cooperation between China and Malaysia, and it marks the relationship between the East Coast Special Economic Zone of Malaysia and China. The Beibu Gulf Economic Zone and western China have opened a new era of rail-sea combined transport.

The Kuantan distribution center of the new international land-sea trade channel also ushered in the inauguration and operation. The center was established by Beigang Logistics Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Beibu Gulf Port Group, with a total area of 3,375 square meters.
