So far, the preliminary design of the entire Ningbo section of the Shenhai Expressway reconstruction and expansion project has been approved.

It is reported that the starting point of the southern section of the project approved this time is located in Xiwu Street, Fenghua District, connected to the northern section of the project, and the end point is located at the Yongtai boundary of Ma'aoling Tunnel in Ninghai County, connecting the proposed reconstruction and expansion of Shenhai Expressway Sanmen Ma'aoling to The Linhai Qingling section has a total length of 69.055 kilometers. Among them, the newly-built section is 15.454 kilometers, and the reconstruction and expansion section along the existing expressway is 53.601 kilometers. The three interchanges at Fenghua, Ninghai North and Ninghai South will be reconstructed and expanded along the entire line, and three interchanges at Meilin, Ninghai and Xinling will be newly built. The entire line of the project adopts the two-way eight-lane expressway standard reconstruction and expansion.

Among them, the starting point Xiwu to Xinling Interchange section is 44.179 kilometers, the design speed is 120 kilometers per hour, and the roadbed width is 42 meters; the Xinling Interchange section to the end point Ma'aoling section is 24.876 kilometers, the design speed is 100 kilometers per hour, and the roadbed width is 41 meters. The total approved budget for the project is 19 billion yuan.

The reconstruction and expansion project of the G15 Shenhai Expressway Ningbo Xiwu to Ma'aoling section is a part of the G15 Shenhai Expressway, one of the 11 north-south longitudinal lines of the national expressway network. The provincial comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network is a part of the first vertical part of the nine-vertical, nine-horizontal, five-ring, five-channel, multi-connected expressway network. It is also a part of the national coastal comprehensive transportation channel and the economic artery of the eastern coast of Zhejiang Province. The construction of the project is of great significance for alleviating the saturated pressure of traffic flow on Yongtaiwen Expressway, and further exerting the rapid development of regional economy and the scale benefit of expressway network.
