The reporter learned from the National Energy Administration that from January to March 2023, China's newly installed power generation capacity was 59 million kilowatts, which was 27.26 million kilowatts more than the same period of the previous year. Among them, the newly installed capacity of solar power generation was 33.66 million kilowatts, accounting for more than 57%. .

As of the end of March, the country's cumulative installed power generation capacity was about 2.62 billion kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 9.1%. Among them, the installed capacity of hydropower was about 420 million kilowatts, an increase of 5.4% year-on-year; the installed capacity of wind power was about 380 million kilowatts, an increase of 11.7% year-on-year; the installed capacity of solar power was about 430 million kilowatts, an increase of 33.7% year-on-year. This means that as of the end of March, the cumulative installed capacity of solar power in the country has surpassed the cumulative installed capacity of hydropower, becoming the second largest power source after thermal power.

Judging from the utilization of power generation equipment, from January to March, the cumulative average utilization of power generation equipment nationwide was 868 hours. Among them, wind power generated 615 hours, a year-on-year increase of 61 hours; nuclear power generated 1,864 hours, a year-on-year increase of 17 hours; solar power generated 303 hours, a year-on-year increase of 3 hours.

From the perspective of power investment, from January to March, the major power generation companies in the country completed an investment of 126.4 billion yuan in power projects, a year-on-year increase of 55.2%. Among them, solar power generation was 52.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 177.6%; nuclear power generation was 16.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 53.5%.
