Equinor and its partners have awarded two contracts to TechnipFMC and MODEC for the $9 billion BM-C-33 gas and condensate project in Brazil's Campos Basin.

Under the contract, TechnipFMC will provide integrated engineering, procurement, construction and installation of subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines. The SURF system is expected to be installed in water depths of nearly 2,900 metres, said to be the deepest installation in Equinor's history.

Additionally, the contract covers the delivery of the Subsea 2.0 Christmas tree system, umbilicals, pipe terminations, manifolds, rigid risers and flowlines, jumpers, and subsea distribution and topsides control equipment for the BM-C-33 project.

In July 2022, TechnipFMC was awarded a comprehensive front-end engineering and design contract worth more than $1 billion for Equinor's BM-C-33 gas and condensate project. Japanese offshore floating platform supplier MODEC has secured a sales and purchase agreement for the delivery of floating production, storage and offloading units. The FPSO vessel is expected to produce oil field clusters from three different pre-salt discoveries, namely Pão de Açúcar, Gávea and Seat in the BM-C-33 gas and condensate project.

Under the two-phase turnkey contract, MODEC will cover the front-end engineering design and EPCI of the entire FPSO. In addition, MODEC will provide operation and maintenance services of the FPSO from the first year of first oil production, after which Equinor plans to operate the FPSO.

The FPSO for the BM-C-33 gas and condensate project is expected to be delivered in 2027. According to Equinor, the BM-C-33 project will utilize combined cycle technology on the FPSO to reduce CO2 intensity.

Veronica Coelho, Senior Vice President and Country Manager of Equinor Brazil, said the BM-C-33 is a world-class asset in the Campos pre-salt region of Brazil. Brazil is a core growth region for Equinor and the company is interested in deepening our presence in the country. BM-C-33 will be an important contributor to the realization of this goal, becoming a major natural gas supplier in the domestic market and contributing to local industrial development and energy security.

Equinor awarded the main contract pursuant to its final investment decision for the gas and condensate project. Equinor holds a 35% operating stake in the BM-C-33 gas and condensate project. Repsol Sinopec Brasil and Petrobras are Equinor's partners, holding 35% and 30% interests respectively.Editor/XingWentao
