According to reports, the Hexian-Wuwei section project will strive to start construction in 2023. After the project is completed, there will be a second expressway between Wuhu and Nanjing in addition to the Ningwu Expressway.

Hexian to Wuwei Section Expressway

It is reported that the starting point of the expressway project from Hexian County to Wuwei Section is located at the Laoqiao Junction on the northwest side of Laoqiao Town, Hexian County, Maanshan City. It crosses the G4221 Shanghai-Wuhan Expressway and connects with the existing Chuma Expressway. He County, Jiujiang District, Hanshan County, and Wuwei City, the terminal is located on the west side of Xiang'an Town, Wuwei City, intersects with S30 Tongshang Expressway, and connects with the Wuwei-Anqing section of expressway to be built.

The total length of the project is 69.3 kilometers, of which the Wuhu section is about 50.9 kilometers and the Ma'anshan section is about 18.4 kilometers. The project plans to adopt the standard construction of a two-way four-lane expressway with a design speed of 120 km/h.

Nanjing to Jiujiang Expressway

In March 2023, the survey, design and design consultation of the Nanjing-Jiujiang Expressway and the County-Wuwei section issued a bidding announcement, and all bidding processes will be completed in May 2023 as required. It is reported that the Nanjing-Jiujiang Expressway is a connecting line along the river along the east-west horizontal line of China, and is also an important part of the Yangtze River Delta-Chengdu-Chongqing axis in the main framework of the national comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network.

The Hexian-Wuwei section project is a component of the Nanjing-Jiujiang Expressway, and at the same time it is a five-vertical, ten-horizontal, fifty-four-connected horizontal eighth line in Anhui Province. After completion, it will form the second expressway from Wuhu to Nanjing, and open up traffic on the north bank of the Yangtze River in Anhui.
