Meng Xiangdong said that, as a country with the most abundant natural gas reserves in Central Asia, Turkmenistan has always had a strong desire to diversify its natural gas exports. The construction of the China-Central Asia Natural Gas Pipeline Project has opened up another important natural gas export channel for the Central Asia-Caspian Sea region. In Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, through investing in the construction of natural gas pipelines, CNPC has created more than 10,000 local temporary jobs. During the operation period of the pipeline, it will also provide thousands of long-term and stable jobs for the local area and contribute tens of billions of dollars in tax revenue.

Meng Xiangdong said that Kazakhstan's natural gas resources are mainly concentrated in the northwest region, while consumption is concentrated in the densely populated and relatively developed south region. The implementation of the Hannan Line natural gas pipeline project has improved the natural gas pipeline network facilities in the country, effectively solved the problem of dislocation of natural gas supply and consumption areas, and completely changed the situation that the southern part of Kazakhstan needs to rely on imported natural gas.

Meng Xiangdong said that for China, the import of natural gas through the China-Central Asia natural gas pipeline is of great significance to building a beautiful China, promoting energy conservation and emission reduction, and helping to achieve dual carbon goals. The natural gas transported from Central Asian countries to China through the China-Central Asia natural gas pipeline accounts for more than 15% of China's total natural gas consumption, benefiting more than 20 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.
